Job Description

First Order Effects (FOE) is building America's Infrastructure Prime for the robotic era. The company develops the infrastructure needed to power, connect, launch, and recover autonomous ships, drones, and robots.

The Executive Assistant will protect the founders' time by managing their calendars, travel, and office operations. This is an on-site role in Austin, Texas, requiring proactive anticipation, strong organization, discretion, and the ability to keep a fast-moving company running smoothly.

FOE's team includes professionals from SpaceX, Anduril, Saronic, Lockheed Skunk Works, Forterra, and Fuse Energy. The company offers competitive base compensation, equity, and benefits.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting leaders at a fast-moving, high-growth technology company.
  • Anticipatory and proactive approach, with the ability to identify and solve problems before they arise.
  • Ruthless organization and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Calm, resourceful, and adaptable under pressure when plans change.
  • Warm, clear communication skills and a genuine service mindset.
  • Discretion and judgment when handling sensitive schedules, travel, and information.

  • Bonus: experience supporting founders or senior executives at a high-speed, ownership-oriented company; fluency with Google Workspace and modern scheduling, travel, and expense tools; experience in hardware, defense, aerospace, or GovCon; or experience standing up or scaling an office.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), and eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the founders' calendars and protect focus time by resolving conflicts before they happen.
  • Book and manage domestic and international travel and logistics end-to-end, including last-minute changes.
  • Keep the office and facilities stocked, functional, and welcoming, while managing related vendors.
  • Handle shipping and receiving, expense reports, receipts, and day-to-day administrative tasks with accuracy and discretion.
  • Prepare for meetings and coordinate on-sites, team events, and offsites.
  • Partner daily with the Chief of Staff on the company's operating rhythm and support the founders and company as needed.
