As Chief of Staff (CoS) at Beacons, you'll be a core part of the leadership team and act as a key advisor and partner to founders, overseeing the smooth operation of the organization by managing the office of the CEO, owning cross-functional projects, driving strategic initiatives, and ensuring that important decisions are made efficiently and aligned with the company's goals.
Your main goal will be to make the founding team — and especially the CEO — as effective as possible and ensure the CEO’s agenda is clarified, communicated, and executed.
Requirements
- You play for the front of the jersey
- Have a deep understanding of business strategy - you’ll quickly understand Beacons customers, partners, and business model
- Ability to think at a systems level, with experience as a sharp operator optimizing and streamlining systems
- An effective project manager who can break down complex problems and get buy-in across the team
- Proactively collects cross-functional insights to anticipate and quickly address problems
- Comfortable analyzing and drawing conclusions from data
- Able to think strategically but also drive execution in the face of uncertainty
- Have an exceptional aptitude for and interest in building strong relationships
- Excellent communication - you don’t shy away from difficult conversations
- Knowledgeable about all key functions of a startup (product, engineering, design, customer success, etc.) because you worked in one
- Has strong executive presence and the ability to bring calm to chaos
Responsibilities
- CEO Leverage
- Act as confidante and strategic advisor to CEO, director of CEO communications, and CEO workload management
- Gather and analyze data to inform decision-making, present options to the CEO, and manage complex situations
- Help the CEO develop and execute long-term strategic plans, identify key priorities, and manage large cross-functional projects
- Occasionally serve as CEO proxy for meetings and key decisions
- Executive Operations
- Lead team meetings and own the execution and outcomes of meetings by managing agendas, developing decks, delivering pre-reads, and ensuring clear action items post-meeting
- Prepare board decks, investor updates, and weekly All Hands
- Organize leadership retreats and help with the preparation of team offsites
- Proactively manage ongoing communications with investors and key partners
- Internal Communications
- Act as a key communication channel, drafting and sharing important messages on behalf of leadership, and ensuring alignment across the organization
- Assist the development and implementation of new policies and procedures
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between senior leadership team members to the rest of the team, and resolve internal conflicts
- Tech, Product, & GTM
- Own special projects on behalf of and in collaboration with CEO and leadership team
- Lead large, cross-functional projects, setting deadlines, tracking progress, and ensuring successful completion
- Monitor daily operations, identify potential issues, and ensure smooth workflow across different departments.
- Build systems and processes that support our ability to scale
- Commercial relationship building and strategic partnerships
- Do whatever is needed to help the team succeed!
